The World Economic Forum have released a white paper that focuses of commercial and corporate energy demand reduction.
The paper notes that if all businesses cut their energy usage by 31%, which the paper notes is doable with implementation of current technology, by 2030 that it would represent an annual global saving of $2 trillion.
Action on energy reduction is needed to help the world cope with the expected rise in population of 2 billion by 2050 according to the report.
The paper notes that there are "three levers" to achieve these changes. Operational expenditure, energy efficiency and value chain collaboration.
